A Great Way To Enjoy Black Olives

Serve it with the right combination of food and it will give you a dining experience straight from the trattorias of Italy.

Its important though to have a good recipe for your marinated black olives.

Even if people have their preferences, finding the right balance of flavor, acidity and saltiness will please anybody’s palate.

There are many ways to marinate black olives but more often than not, the marinade would consist of spices and herbs such as garlic, thyme, rosemary, and pepper.

There are those who include lime or chili for more character. The secret to marinated black olives is to keep it marinated for at least 2 days for all the flavors to marry and come as one.

This is done to make sure all flavors are absorbed by the olives.

But however it is made, marinated black olives always serve as a great appetizer to any occasion.

Here is a simple marinated black olives recipe that you might want to try the next time you have a gathering. For this recipe, you will need the following ingredients:

16 ounces of pitted Kalamata Olives, approximately 16 ounces
A half teaspoon of fennel leaves
Half a teaspoon of dried thyme
Half a teaspoon of dried rosemary
1/4 cup of white vinegar
One-fourth cup of olive oil
2 pieces of dried bay leaves

First thing to do is drain the olives and rinse with running water. Clean the jars and put aside which would be used later for marinating the olives.

In a large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients except the olives and mix well.

When all ingredients are emulsified, add the olives and toss until the olives are fully-coated.

Transfer the marinated olives into two jars, each jar must contain a bay leaf and equal amounts of olives and marinade. Fill the jar up with cool water, seal and shake well.

Leave the olives to marinate in the refrigerator for at least two days before serving.

Complete the dish with some cheese and crackers and you’re good to go.

Prepare this for the next occasion, it will be a sure hit.
