With vinegar, it is easy to get a sparkling home.
You can remove soap scum from washing machine and dishwasher, remove grease from stovetop, etc., with the help of vinegar.
Other things you can clean using vinegar are stainless steel, water faucets, coffee, tea, narrow-necked bottles.
I was recently watching a program on the television called “How Clean is Your House?” It is such a wonderful program.
Two women named Aggie MacKenzie and Kim Woodburn, host this program and their mission is to clean the dirtiest house in Britain. They tell you how to clean your house with simple things that are available in every household.
I learned a lot about using vinegar to clean your own home. But one thing that really makes this a great cleaning alternative is that vinegar is an environmentally safe cleaning product! And cheap as chips too!
Clean the sink: Take equal measure (1 cup) of baking soda and vinegar and pour it in the sink. Allow it to stay there for 5 minutes. Now, rinse your sink with hot water. The sink is now clean.
Get a dirt-free fridge: Take half cup of water and vinegar in a container. Dampen a cloth in this mixture. Wipe the dirt from interiors of the fridge. All the dirt from the fridge is now gone.
Removing stains in stainless steel items: Many a times, you might see stains on stainless steel items. It is easy to remove these stains with the help of a little vinegar. Dampen the cloth with vinegar and simply rub it on the stains in the stainless steel items. Stains will vanish in a jiffy.
Unclog soap scum from the washing machine: All of us use washing machines at home and removing soap scum is a very big problem. I came to know an easy way to remove them by using vinegar. Just pour a cup of vinegar in the washing machine. Run the washing machine without clothes in a normal cycle; you can see that not only the soap scum but also the hoses are clean after using vinegar.
You can clean your washing machine this way once a month.
You can do the same with your dishwasher too to remove soap scum and odor.
Get rid of grease from the stovetop: It is but normal for the stovetops to appear greasy and it is not that easy to remove this grease. Here is a simple way to get rid of this stovetop grease. Pour a little vinegar onto a dish cloth. Wipe the grease from the stovetop. You may use the same procedure to clean up grease from the kitchen walls and the oven.
Yet another use of vinegar. Can I call vinegar a multi-purpose cleaner?
Remove hard water stains from faucets: Take a piece of white cloth. Pour vinegar onto the cloth and cover the faucets with this cloth. Let the cloth stay for about 15-30 minutes depending on how much hard water stain is present in the faucets. Remove the cloth after the stipulated time and you get a sparkling faucet.
The faucets will look like as though they are brand new.
Remove coffee and tea stains from the tea cups: There will be a small layer of coffee stain in my coffee cup. I have tried using the best dish cleaning solutions to remove this stain but in vain. There is an easy way to remove these stains. Take equal parts of salt and white distilled vinegar. Scrub the stains gently and rinse the cups.
Voila…the stains are gone. You may also use baking soda in place of salt.
Remove bad odor from lunch boxes: Day-in and day-out we use the same lunch boxes. This is one reason why we sometimes get a bad odor from our lunch boxes. You can remove this bad odor with vinegar. Take a piece of plain bread and soak it with vinegar. Place this bread in lunch box and let it stay overnight. Remove the bread from the lunch box next day morning and wash your lunch box. You will have to search for the bad odor in your lunch box.
Easily remove stains from narrow-necked bottles: Many times we see stains at the bottom of narrow-necked bottles and find it very difficult to remove those stains. Here is an easy method to get rid of these stains. Pour a little amount of white distilled vinegar into these narrow-necked bottles and keep them aside for 1-2 hours. Now, add a little amount of rice and shake it briskly. The stains are now gone.
